Our Story
This beautiful lady is my 86 year young mother who lives out of state and alone in her private home. A retired nurse in relatively good health, she is determined to remain independent for as long as possible. In the past, her independence and autonomy were both threatened as she struggled to navigate doctor visits, sometimes unwarranted diagnostic testing, post surgical care, her medications and emergency situations. When my siblings and I were not able to reach her on the phone or go with her to the hospital during a medical crisis, we relied heavily on the kindness of her neighbors, friends, and even her housekeeper to check on her wellbeing. The overwhelming anxiety of not knowing where she was or what was happening to her often sent one of us frantically scrambling to be by her side. What we needed was a local patient advocate who was familiar to her: Someone who knew her medical history and would honor her life-care wishes. A registered nurse myself, these personal experiences inspired me to create my own nursing business with your family in mind. RN on Demand has been designed to provide you or your family with the peace of mind that comes from knowing you are well cared for.

Michelle Spangler RN, BSN
I'm a registered nurse with 30 years of experience in healthcare. My practice has involved patients with head-and-neck cancers, neurological conditions such as stroke, epilepsy, multiple sclerosis, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, spinal fusions, etc. I have had the honor of proving end-of-life care for several patients throughout my career at Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU). I have extensive experience as a triage nurse currently working at OHSU within the framework of their developing triage phone system. In recognition of voluntarily serving the hispanic migrant population during the Covid-19 pandemic, OHSU presented me with a Golden Rose Award. I am passionate about patient safety and education, preventative health, mental wellbeing and happiness.
